A dry powder inhaler is a small, versatile inhaler device that provides its patients with precise drug dosage and instant verification of dose delivery.
A startup enterprise needed to develop its design concept into prototypes that proved the effectiveness and viability of the product and to provide realistic, production ready tooling models to show prospective investors.
Fallbrook Engineering assisted in the design and development of the single patient use, reusable delivery device and the disposable unit dose blister pack. Fallbrook Engineering worked closely with the Doctor / inventor to improve the ergonomics of the delivery system and design the components for profitable, high volume injection molding and economical assembly.
The disposable blister packs were designed for easy use, which was a challenge because the proper positioning of the blister into the delivery device was critical to effective performance. Through a combination of component geometry and graphics, Fallbrook Engineering was able to make placement of the disposable both easy to understand and perform.
The client used the final models to demonstrate their technology to potential pharmaceutical partner companies.
