LiquiVent Vapor Recovery System

Alliance Pharmaceuticals, Inc. of San Diego, California, asked Fallbrook Engineering, Inc. to develop a vapor recovery system for their ventilation drug LiquiVent.

Fallbrook Engineering assembled an experienced, multidisciplinary team to skillfully and efficiently address physics, mechanical and industrial design, packaging, construction, evaluation, and test issues.

FEI concluded the early phases of the project, paving the way for pre-clinical evaluation in animal studies. Three complete systems were constructed and verified, then shipped to three US sites where pre-clinical trials were completed.

After successful pre-clinical trials, FEI's system was the obvious design of choice for inclusion in future clinical trials. The completed product is a very successful, Peltier-effect-driven vapor condenser. The system contains a liquid separator, circulation scheme and tandem microbiological filters. It achieves reclamation of the vapor to allow re-introduction to the patient. Fallbrook Engineering's safe, efficient product design allowed Alliance to meet its aggressive goal to maximize LiquiVent recovery.
